Embark on a tour that showcases the history, scenery and culture of Nevis. Begin at the Museum of Nevis History, set in the Georgian-style home where Alexander Hamilton was born in 1757. Learn about the statesman’s early years on Nevis and his later life as a father of the U.S. Constitution. Continue to the Nevis Heritage Village at Fothergill Estate, a former sugar plantation that provides a fascinating look at the island’s past. You’ll also visit the eerie ruins of the Eden Brown Estate, reputed to be haunted by the ghost of a lovesick bride. Hear her tale of woe and, perhaps, feel her paranormal presence. Afterwards, unwind and do a little shopping at Nisbet Plantation, set on the Caribbean shores. The Botanical Garden is 8 acres of the most diversified tropical plant landscape to be found in the islands. Collected from around the world, the magnificent plants of the tropics provide serene beauty and education to the visitor. Finally, drive past the ruins of Cottle Church, where slaves once worshipped, and see the original site of Jamestown, the first settlement on Nevis, sunk by a tidal wave.
